It's official! The wonderful leaders behind March of Remembrance and Hope were thrilled with the final series I delivered, and I am honoured to say that they requested to make a photo book to better share the experience. The book incorporates the meaningful words of those who participated in the May 2015 journey interspersed with photos captured over the 10-day excursion through Germany and Poland. It is impossible to put this experience into words and for this I am grateful for my camera and the insightfulness of those who attended. Their words are touching and truly inspiring, and make a great compliment to the images in this book.
Thank you to Founder & Director Eli Rubenstein and Director of Program Carla Wittes for your appreciation for documentary photography's role and your heartwarming Introduction:
"[...] But this year we had something unique: a gifted photographer with a keen eye and a gentle step that allowed her to take extraordinary photos without ever being intrusive or insensitive. Vanessa Tignanelli has created a memory book to hold close to our hearts, and from whose images we can continue to draw strength as we do our work in the world, each in our own way striving to make a difference. Every one of us has the responsibility to raise our voice, to stand up and take action, to make a difference. Our MRH journey taught us that we cannot turn away. These photos remind us that we are not alone in that task."
